About Me

I became a therapist because I believe mental health is so crucial to our overall well-being yet it is vastly under-served. Through my personal and professional experiences, I have witnessed the strain people experience when they are suffering from mental illness. I have also seen the transformational power of therapy and real changes for the better by those who were suffering.

My time spent with clients has shown how often people experience guilt and shame due to feeling judged by others. As we work together to explore their experiences, we generally are able to identify a series of events that led them to think, feel and behave the way they do. This awareness has proven to be very beneficial in the healing process as many times people yearn for an explanation as to why things are the way they are. My years of life experience have taught me not to jump to conclusions or judge anyone without fully listening and understanding their story.

In addition to raising clients’ awareness regarding their distress, I have also learned the role of identifying and addressing the processes that serve to maintain symptoms (i.e Why am I still experiencing anxiety if I know why I am anxious?). As treatment progresses and clients are able to identify how their body and mind operate, a sense of control begins to set in as clients begin to realize they do have a say in how they respond to their distress. This important shift leads to lasting change for the better.
